The Dökkálfar, better known as the Dark Elves, are the dominant species of the realm of darkness, Svartalfheim. They are the first Elf race to exist and one of the first Fae. With the ability to manipulate darkness and magic, they are a very powerful and dangerous creature in the Nine Realms. Dark Elves are said to be darker than pitch with piercing compound eyes.
Dark Elves are based on the Dökkálfar from Norse Mythology, the Dark Elves, Light Elves, and Skrulls from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and they are an allusion Humanity from the Kono people of Guinea creation myth
History
Dark Creations
Daughter of Death
In the early days of the Universe, Thanatos made a deal with his former father, Yahweh. In exchange for returning as the Grim Reaper His fabricated family, the first Umbrums, would be welcomed in the paradisal realm of Heaven. While Thanatos' wife, Thana Sa, enjoyed her bright and colorful new home, his daughter Tanda Sa preferred their home in the Dark Dimension. Tanda ran away from the Ether in search of her old home. Unable to locate the Dark Dimension, the Daughter of Death settled in a realm similar to it, the Realm of Darkness.
Dark Elves and Dwarves
Svartalfheim was vast, empty, and devoid of life. The Daughter of Death missed her family and decided to follow in her father's footsteps and make one herself. Tanda Sa made her way to a large central planet in Svartalfheim called Myrkheim where she breathed life into the ground below her. Seven Dwarves rose from the stone and clay as its elementals. Secondly, she breathed life into the surrounding Dark Energy in Myrkheim's atmosphere. The Darkness condensed into seven powerful dark creatures, the first Elves. The two races of Faerie bowed to the Daughter of Death, seeing her as both their mother and their queen.
Battle of Myrkheim
While the Dwarves required to build and magical eggs to reproduce, the Dark Elves could reproduce sexually, and very quickly. In no time, the Dark Elves outnumbered the elementals ten to one. Due to the Elves need to consume blood for sustenance, they began hunting the Dwarves. The Dark Elves were vicious killing several of them and becoming their enemy. The Dwarves were no match to the Dark Elves until they began digging underground and found a special metal. They used the metal to craft enchanted weapons designed to destroy the Dark Elves on contact. The battle was suddenly equal if not in the Dwarves favor. Tanda Sa had to step in to stop the conflict, much to her dismay. In exchange for their banishment from Myrkheim and leaving the Dwarves be, the Dark Elves were given the rest of the Realm of Darkness.
Divide and Conquer
Populating the Realm of Darkness
With their ability to move in the vacuum of space freely, the Dark Elves abandoned Myrkheim and populate every other planet in the Realm of Darkness, now known as Svartalfheim. Each planet they traveled to, they quickly flourished with more Dark Elves before moving to the next. Each planet the Dark Elves went to, they set up magical way points for fast travel. Around this time, the Dark Elves renounced their loyalty to Tanda Sa and chose the eldest and strongest of their kind, Absalom, as their new queen.
Invasion of the Nine Realms
Without blood to feed on, the Dark Elves began to perish en masse, so they were forced to look into the other realms for food. The Elves worked together and separated into groups to invade the Nine Realms using the Bifröst. Those that went to Muspelheim and Niflheim were met with quick deaths, burning and freezing to death respectively. Those that traveled to Iðavöllr were quickly dispatched by the Æsir and Vanir, incidentally alerting them of their existence and exposing that they were threats. Both Midgard and Helheim were not habitable for the Dark Elves at that time and those who attempted became sick and died there. However, the currently uninhabited realm of Alfheim in the Realm of Light was perfectly save for the Dark Elves and many traversed to the opposing realm led by Oberon. At the same time, the World Tree Yggdrasill sensed that the Dark Elves were dangerous and manipulated the Bifröst so that it could only be traversed one way between Svartalfheim and Ljosalfheim. The trapped Dark Elves would eventually evolve into the Light Elves which would further evolve into numerous other Elven races.
Thousands of years after that, a group of Dark Elves out grew one of their planets. The population of that planet tried again to look through the Nine Realms to find a new home. Midgard at last habitable for them and they split the planets population in half. Half stayed in Svartalfheim, and the other half moved to the Earth on a large island in the Atlantic Ocean. However, just like what happened in Alfheim, the latent Celestial Magic from the Earth's creation mutated the Dark Elves into a High Elf subspecies known as Undines, better known as the Atlanteans. The Dark Elves ended their second invasion, leaving the Atlanteans be and staying in their home realm.
Curse of Pitch Black
Failing to find a new home with new sources of food, weak Dark Elves eventually perished while the rest managed to push through until the Dark Elf population evolved past the need to consume blood. With this new evolutionary adaptation, the Dark Elf Queen, Absalom, journeyed back to Myrkheim in the hopes that Pitch Black would allow the Dark Elves to return to their home planet. When Tanda refused, Absalom attacked her, eventually winning the fight and forcing the Daughter of Death into a sleep-like death with a Sleeping Curse.
Dark Ages
Attack on the Dark Elves
In order to help the Dragon Council over come the Stygian Curse and the Creatures of the Night, a Werewolf scientist named Henry Jekyll traveled to the Realm of Darkness in search of Dark Elf DNA. The Dark Elves saw him and his business there as a threat and began attacking him. With the threat of the Dark Elves on him, Jekyll had no choice but to unleash his dark side, Mr. Hyde. Hyde fought back valiantly and violently, learning that the Olympian magic that transformed him into a Werewolf, was toxic to Dark Elves. Every Dark Elf he attacked was either petrified or severely depowered. The Dark Elves gave up their attack, their numbers already dwindling even without Hyde, and decide to give him what he wants: Dark Elf DNA. Satisfied, he takes his leave, however the effects on the Dark Elves was permanent and devastating, the entire surviving population of the planet mutated and evolved into a lesser subspecies of Dark Elf known as Night Elves.

Characteristics
Despite what their cloaked forms suggest, Elves are not mammalian, but are more closely related to reptiles. Their bodies are covered in small, smooth, chromatophoric scales indistinguishable from Human skin. When they are cloaked, not much separates them from the Terrans of Earth aside from their unnatural glowing and relatively larger eyes, their pointed ears, and notably larger canine fangs. While cloaked Dark Elves are beautiful humanoid creatures, but their true forms are anything but, and are often hidden from other creatures unless it is for intimidation. The true form of Dark Elves consist of pitch black scales with large compound eyes consisting of a single bioluminescent lens. Their mouths are large and wide, full of sharp teeth, a serpent-like tongue and a set of fangs. While they possess small noses with slit nostrils, they have large olfactory receptors in their skulls.
Dark Elves are actually very large and unstable entities as they are essentially sapient Dark Matter. Before they were given the Genetic Stabilizer, their existence was maintained by the strong gravity wells and atmospheric pressure of Svartalfheim that other realms did not possess. Them stepping out of their realm causes them to become weak to attacks and susceptible to corruption, what lead to the Light Elves and Atlanteans. However, thanks to their stabilizers, Dark Elves can traverse the realms freely.
Males and Female Dark Elves are identical to each other, their true forms not having any differing factors to separate them such as muscle mass or breasts. Although, cloaked females may appear to have breasts, most do not, leaving the males and females of the race interchangeable when cloaked. The sex of a Dark Elf can be determined by their eye color. Male Dark Elves have red eyes and female Dark Elves have blue eyes while Juvenile Dark Elves, between their birth and up to the age of five, have purple eyes. Dark Elves are only pregnant for two weeks and the mother does not show any external changes during pregnancy. This is to not be a hindrance should the Dark Elf get into danger. A Juvenile Dark Elf has no sex at all, completely androgens in mind and body, though they carry female anatomy.
Like other Faeries and Witches, Dark Elves possess two hearts. The smaller one rests in the center of their bodies and is used to pump the organic Dark Matter that is their blood through them. The larger one, known as the Mystokinetic Gland or Elven Star, is and external star shaped organ that can be seen on an Elf's chest. It absorbs, purifies, and distributes Magic throughout the Dark Elves' body. The Elven Star is the only true solid part of a Dark Elf's body and very sensitive to being touched.
Powers
- Elven Physiology: Elves are the most diverse and powerful race of Faerie there is, with Dark Elves being the most powerful. They are the originals, whose power set has been passed down to all other race of Elf and eventually other Faeries as well.
- Auricles: Dark Elves possess pointed Elven Ears which have evolved to channel certain Magic, allowing Faeries certain powers and ways to stay hidden from other creatures.
- Bioluminescence: While a Dark Elf is using one of the powers granted to them through their Auricles, the ears glow in a pulsating pattern. The markings on a Dark Elf's body, while invisible in their hidden form, glow white in their true form. The glow can grow in intensity, brightening their immediate surroundings. The eyes and fangs of Dark Elves also glow in the dark, the fangs, however, glow faintly.
- Invisibility: While in a dark environment, as well as bearing their natural form, a Dark Elf can appear as nothing but a shadow. Should they activate their bioluminescence, then only their markings, teeth, and/or eyes will be visible. In bright areas, Dark Elves can become completely invisible to others so long as they do not have Astral Vision or the ability to turn invisible themselves.
- Selective Invisibility: As an extension to their power of invisibility, combined with mental manipulation, Dark Elves are able to chose who can see and hear them and who cannot.
- Regeneration: The Dark Elves, while not the strongest creatures, are very resilient and quick to heal from any wound. When injured, a Dark Elf and heal themselves in no more than a few seconds, at the cost of their Dark Energy. Their regeneration allows to completely regrow separated limbs and all of their organs.
- Enhanced Speed: Dark Elves are one of the fastest creatures in the Universe, easily able to out run projectiles like arrows.
- Longevity: Dark Elves are very long lived having the capacity to live several thousand years if not more.
- Mystokinesis: Like all Faeries, Dark Elves can use Magic in both combat and in their normal lives. With this magic they are able to cast spells and manipulate their environments to an extent. Because of their origins, it is very easy for Dark Elves to manipulate Dark Magic without corruption. They can generate weapons with theirs magic and use their magic itself as a weapon.
- Shapeshifting: Using the Dark Energy that composes their bodies, Dark Elves are able to manipulate their appearance in so minute ways, that they are able to mimic the DNA and skeletal structures of other creatures. The most used ability of their Shapeshifting is their cloaking ability, making others see them as normal, pointy eared, humanoids instead of pitch black humanoids with glowing eyes and a monstrous mouth, a trait passed down to nearly all Elves
- Size Manipulation: By altering the amount of Dark Energy that comprises their body, Dark Elves are able to change how big or small they are. This can be shown through a change is physical size but keeping the same proportions, or by changing their outward age. Like this, it is hard to tell how old or how big an adult Dark Elf truly is.
- Sequential Hermaphroditism: Dark Elves are born sexless, though with female anatomy. As they age they change into either male or female some time between their third and fourth birthdays. Particularly strong Dark Elves are able to continue changing between male and female as adults, though only in appearance.
- Auricles: Dark Elves possess pointed Elven Ears which have evolved to channel certain Magic, allowing Faeries certain powers and ways to stay hidden from other creatures.
- Umbrakinesis: As dark creatures born of an Umbrum, Tanda Sa, Dark Elves are physically composed of Organic Dark Matter. They can manipulate this Dark Matter and the surrounding Dark Energy with their minds. In doing so, they can manipulate their size and age, create clones of themselves, and move around in space as a shadow.
- Hemophagia: Dark Elves are Plasmavores, meaning they consume the blood of other creatures for sustenance. They use blood in order to generate more organic Dark Matter and age or to heal themselves when weak
- Oxygen Independence: Dark Elves are easily able to survive both underwater and in space for several days without oxygen
- Sleep Suppression: While they need sleep every so often, Dark Elves are able to last months without the need for it.
Weaknesses
- Sunlight: Despite being able to survive in the sunlight for longer than their Night Elf cousins, especially in their true forms, prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays will begin to damage their skin. Even longer will lead to the Dark Elf turning into stone
- Iron: The skin of Elves are sensitive to iron and will burn on contact. The burn can be easily healed but prolonged exposure can lead to permanent damage, even death
- Midnight Sword: Midnight Swords are a dark blade developed by the Dwarves of Nidavellir specifically designed to negate the powers of and destroy Dark Elves from the inside out. Dark Elves struck a Midnight Sword will become weak and powerless as they slowly turn to stone
- Cocoa: Like most Faeries, Dark Elves have difficulty processing chocolate. It acts as a neurotoxin that makes Dark Elves delirious, wanting nothing more than to consume more chocolate. In a sense, cocoa is a highly addictive mind scrambling drug
