The Earth is a small planet in the Elemental Dimension known to the Magical Community as Midgard and to space-bearing civilizations as Terra. Being the home of the Terrans, it is known as both the Overworld and the Realm of Mortals. Despite its weak magic potential, its current status was achieved through the manipulation of magical creatures. Terra is spiritually linked to the goddess Gaia who embodies it. It is one of the Nine Realms of Yggdrasill and is under Asgardian protection.

The Earth is loosely based on Midgard from Norse Mythology and the Mortal Realm from the Disney Channel Original Movie Halloweentown.

Description

The Earth is a small planet in the Orion Spur of the Milky Way Galaxy within a magicless sub-section of the Elemental Dimension. They have a single natural satellite named Luna and orbits a single star named Sol which it is the third planet from.

Most of the Earth's surface is covered in liquid water basins while the rest is rocky or icy land rising above the seas. The land is separated into many continents and islands which are further broken up into countries lead or ruled by representatives. Most of the Earth's intelligent life exists on land, including the Earth's dominant species, the Terrans.

Throughout the Earth, there are several sections created by Creatures hidden from the native Terrans. These include the Magic Sectors, the Moors, the Enchanted Forest, and the Warren, as well as other hidden areas like the Garden of Eden, El Dorado, and the Garden of the Hesperides.

History

Nexus Universe Earth

Development

The Earth was created in the Overworld of the Nexus Universe. Overtime, the planet became habitable, eventually giving rise to the dinosaurs as well as many other land and sea bearing animals.

Extinction of the Dinosaurs

Around Sixty Million Years Ago, an asteroid struck the Earth, killing off nearly all land animals. Some mammal species survived, however, and quickly dominated the planet and evolved to several mammalian races, including the Hominids. Millions of years later, the Hominids evolved into the first Humans.

Introduction of Magic

Betrayed and attacked by his former student, Arthur Pendragon, the Warlock known as Merlin along with his wife, Nimue, and his daughter, Morgan le Fay, use magic to escape Pendragon and his tyranny. They created a portal to link the Under and Overworlds to crossover to the Earth, introducing magic to the Mortal World.

The introduction of magic causes some humans to be born with an extra magic harboring organ, turning them into Witches as well. These Witches would further mutate from the magic spreading across the planet into the early Overworld monsters. Merlin and his offspring, the Cromwell Clan band together to form the Magical Community.

First Dark Ages

Creature Spell Hysteria

A rift forms between Humanity and the Magical Community. In order to spite the creatures, humans dress up in costumes mimicking their likeness to celebrate All Hallows Eve. Offended, the creatures developed a spell to get back at them. They unleased the Creature Spell, transforming the impersonators into the monsters they were dressed as. Chaos reined through the night until morning cam when the spell was reversed.

As retaliation to the Creature Spell, strong magic opposes formed the Knights of the Iron Dagger. A team of Humans clad with iron armor and tools knowing that magical creatures are weak to iron.

Ambush on the Magical Community

The next year, the creatures prepared to cast the Creature Spell again but they were ambushed by the Knights who easily killed most of them. With the hopes of wiping out all magic on Earth, the Knights spread outward, attacking any creature that fell in their path. This left creatures with no choice but to destroy most of the Knights and retreat.

Over the next year, Creatures and Knights battled each other over control of the Earth. However, for fear of permanent corruption, the creatures decided to abandon the Earth and Humanity in favor of Discordia.

Ending the War

On Halloween night in 2001, the Magical Community worked together to create a new portal spell to open the portal between Earth an Halloweentown permanently. Three years later, Humans and Creatures managed to work through their differences and peacefully reunite.

Big Crunch

The Earth was destroyed along side the rest of the Nexus Universe during the Big Crunch. Thanks to the shockwave of the Castration of Ouranos, the Nexus Universe shook and collapsed due to the activation of Merlin's modified Reality Bomb.

Recreation and Development

Yahweh's Grand Design

In the Stellar Universe, The Earth was redeveloped along side the Solar System orchestrated by Yahweh directly unlike its other Variants. Space dust was coalesced slowly into a yellow dwarf star, with the other planets soon following. Yahweh set up the Earth to be the perfect new home for his grand creation made in his own image.

Alien Visitors

The Earth was chosen by Fimbultyr to be one of the Nine Realms of Yggdrasill and attached a branch of the Bifröst to it. Some time later, the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim attempted to Invade the Nine Realms. Earth was one of their attempted conquests. However, they soon realized that the planet was not yet habitable. Those who traveled there were quickly killed by the harsh magma floor.

A few million years later, a displaced World Turtle Colony Ship, known today only as Theia, was displaced back in time to avoid the End of the World. However, upon arrival, the ship spun out of control and crashed into the Earth which was left scarred as a massive chunk of its mass was ripped from it. The debris eventually formed to Luna, the Earth's lone moon.

Panthalassa

Over time, asteroids crashed into the Earth introducing water to the planet which burn up, causing clouds of steam in the atmosphere. As the Earth cooled and the ground solidified, the steam condensed into water drops and rained down. With nowhere for the water to drain to, the Earth becomes severely flooded, forming Panthalassa, an all encompassing ocean. About one billion years later, volcanoes erupt and emerge from Panthalassa as early landmasses.

Life on Earth

Cambrian Explosion

Magic bled into the Elemental Dimension from the Magic Dimension forming pockets of raw magic called Cera Fluid. The Cera Fluid condensed into a large meteor on a collision course with Earth. It crashed into the Panthalassa, the Magic dissolving into the water and enriching the seas. The limited life in the ocean rapidly evolved into the numerous life forms known today. The rest of the Magic gave live to the Earth's first intelligent lifeforms Tiamat and Abzu, the first Annunaki, who were the self proclaimed rulers of Panthalassa.

The Titanic Host

Around this time, the Titans made their way to Earth and populated the land that would become Rome, Italy. The leaders of the Titans, Kronos and Rhea had their final child named Zeus. Zeus was hidden away from his father and replaced with a rock which Kronos ate to prevent his fate from coming true.

Collison of the Blue Catalyst Comet

During one cycle of the Catalyst Comets, this time with a blue hue, crashes into the ocean, and like the Pink Comet, enriches the waters with cosmic magic. The Blue Comet brought evolution, allowing creatures like the Ichthyostega to evolve lungs and the ability to crawl onto the land, bringing life to the surface world.

Titanomachy

Zeus returns, now fully grown and with the help of the Collector, disguises himself as Kronos' cup bearer and tricks him into drinking an emetic and releasing his siblings. A ten year long battle starts between the Titans and the Olympians. When the Tartalo and Hecatoncheires were freed and joined the Olympians, they gained the upper hand. Kronos was dismembered and his remains and nearly all Titans were locked in Tartarus guarded by the Hecatonheires. The Olympians moved the Pantheon to mount Olympus and took over the Earth.

The Atlanteans

With the Earth finally habitable, the Dark Elves try again to invade. They settle in a central part of Pangea where the Olympians banished Atlas to. The Dark Elves mutated outside of their home realm, Svartalfheim, degrading into a lesser subspecies of light Fae. Eventually, over millions of years and the shifting of the continents, the former Dark Elves became an amphibious being called an Undine, the Atlanteans.

Collison of the Green Catalyst Comet

In Southern Mexico, an Ice Elemental named Urgence Evergreen makes note of a writhing green asteroid hurtling towards the Earth aching for their extinction. He calls a meeting with the other three elementals Chatsberry, elemental of candy, Balthus, elemental of fire, and Slimy D, of slime, in an attempt to find a way to stop their impending extinction. The other Elementals refuse to help, wanting nature to take its course. This prompts Evergreen into freezing them, and going at it alone, though with the help of his dinosaur servant Gunther.

While he was able to complete his Wishing Crown, a tool he would use to grant his deepest wish, to be rid of the Green Catalyst Comet, the disruption thanks to the aftermath of the Deccan Traps made Evergreen incapable of using the Crown and Gunther being of no help. With nothing to stop it, the Comet crashes into the Yucatán Peninsula and massively devastated the entire planet, the sky was blocked by all of the up turned ground and the Earth cooled drastically. Roughly seventy-five present of all life was killed including all remaining land reptiles. At the site of the collision, the power of the Dark One seeped into the Earth, creating a cesspool of mutagenic toxic waste.

Sinking of Atlantis

As Jörmungandr grew in Asgard, the Asgardians quickly realized the dangers of keeping him there due to his Fomorian physiology. The Serpent Giant was banished from Asgard, using the Bifröst to eject him from the city, and accidentally sending him to Midgard where he crashed into the living statue of Atlas. This cracked the foundation of Atlantis and plunging the island and Jörmungandr deep into the Atlantic Ocean. Jörmungandr was kept in Asgard in his childhood but thanks to his Fomorian physiology, he quickly outgrew the city. The Asgardians, fearing the serpent god, and having no where for him to live, banished Jörmungandr from Asgard to Midgard through the Bifröst. The Bifröst let out Jörmungandr in mid air above the Atlantic Ocean, causing him to plummet to to planet's surface. During his decent, he bumped into the living statue of Atlas, cracking the foundation of Atlantis and plunging the island and himself deep into the ocean.
