The Time Scythe, formerly known as the Harvesting Scythe, is a powerful blade created by Gaia as a weapon to depose her husband Ouranos. It was given to Kronos for that purpose and he carried the Scythe as a symbol of his power during his reign of the Cosmos. After the Titans were banished, the Harvesting Scythe was given to the time god Chronos.

The Harvesting Scythe is based on the weapon of the same name from Classical Mythology and the scythe often seen being wielded by the entity Father Time.

History

Titanomachy

A Tool for Revenge

In order to depose her husband, Ouranos, for banishing their children, the Tartalo and Hecatoncheires, the Earth goddess Gaia creates a large stone sickle strong enough to kill him. She goes to each of her Titan children asking them who is willing to use the scythe on their father in exchange for freeing their monstrous siblings. None of the Titans were up for it except for the youngest, Kronos. who took it without hesitation.

Castration of Ouranos

Kronos hid in his parents chambers waiting for Ouranos to return. When he did, Kronos ambushed him, quickly slicing off his genitals. Kronos took control of the Cosmos with the scythe by his side as his weapon of choice.

Battle of the Titans

Kronos brought the Harvesting Scythe into battle and used it against the Olympians and their followers. He and the scythe injured several of the Olympians and helped Kronos block some of their attacks. Despite this, it was not enough to withstand the power of the Master Bolt wielded by Zeus.

The Time Scythe

Found by Chronos

When Kronos was defeated, dismembered, and locked in Tartarus, the Harvesting Scythe was left behind at his castle. Eventually it was found by god of time, Chronos who took the weapon, now known as the Time Scythe, as his weapon and tool for manipulating time.
