The Hecatoncheires (Ancient Greek Ἑκατόγχειρες), also known as Centimanes, are multiheaded and multilimbed humanoids born of Protogenoi Gaia and Ouranos. After being freed from Tartarus by Zeus, The Hecatoncheires were tasked to stand watch over the Titans who have taken their place in Tartarus, working under the Warden of Tartarus, Tartaros.

The Hecatoncheires are based on creatures of the same name from Classical Mythology.

History

Early Lives

Born in the Void

The Hecatoncheires are a set of triples born to the Sky Father Ouranos and the Earth Mother Gaia. The younger siblings of the Titans and Tartalo, these fifty-headed and hundred-armed giants were named Cottus, Briareus, and Gyges. Compared to the beautiful Titans, The Hecatoncheires are massive and ugly, and while Gaia loved them unconditionally, Ouranos hated them.

Banishment of Gaia's Children

Using his power, Ouranos banished the Hecatoncheires and the Tartalo to the far corners of the Void and placed a curse on them so they could never return of their own power. In this way, Ouranos would never have to see his bastard children again, much to the disapproval of Gaia.

Prison of the Gods

Gaia got her revenge on her husband by creating a powerful Harvesting Scythe wielded by the Titan Kronos to castrate him. However, this was with the caveat that Kronos must release the Hecatoncheires and Tartalo when he becomes king. Kronos refused leaving his siblings in the far Void until they were eventually moved to Tartarus after its construction.

Titanomachy

Freed by Zeus

During the height of the Titanomachy, the Olympians Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades travel down to Tartarus to free the Tartalo and Hecatoncheries in the hopes that they would help them in their fight. When the Hecatoncheries are freed, they were very grateful to the Olympians and agreed to help them fight the Titans.

Battle of the Titans

The Hecatoncheires and Tartalo joined the Olympians in their fight against the Titans. The added muscle they brought helped to turn the tides of the battle. The weapons the Tartalo made was used to slice Kronos into pieces, forcing the rest of the Titans to surrender. All of the Titans were locked in Tartarus in the same cages the Tartalo and Hecatoncheires were trapped in.

New Found Purpose

after the war the Hecatoncheires were tasked by the Olympians to stay down in Tartarus to watch over the prison, specifically over the Titans. There, they work under the personification of the Underworld itself, Tartaros, as their warden.

Creating the Gegenees

Eventually, the Hecatoncheires would grow tired of constantly watching over Tartarus and the Titans, both of which do not cause trouble most of the time. They found away to build several artificial avatars for each of their personalities. Turning their main bodies to stone, the Hecatoncheires inhabited their avatars, the Gegenees, and used them to walk the Overworld and live normal lives.

Characteristics

The Hecatoncheires are humanoid beings of great size and strength, closely related to the Gigantes. They are the tallest and most muscular of Gaia and Ouranos' children whose heights range from fifty to eighty feet (fifteen to twenty-four meters) tall. The basic anatomy of the Hecatoncheires involves a bulky humanoid body with one-hundred arms growing from a modified torso. They also possess fifty grotesque heads growing from modified necks and their back, each with their own brain and personality.

To control their many arms and heads, making their bodies move as one, the Hecatoncheires possesses a secondary central nervous system within their chests. This large main brain takes over when the Hecatoncheires need to work as one to complete a task where having fifty different opinions would complicate things.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

  • Hecatoncheir Physiology: The Hecatoncheires are a set of triplets, at least in body, born to the Primordial gods of the Earth and Sky. Like their siblings, the Titans and the Tartalo, the Hecatoncheires are considered primordial entities and are very powerful in both size and strength.
    • Lesser Divinity: While not technically gods, the Hecatoncheires are direct descendants of two of the most powerful gods there are. Their strength and power level exceeds some true gods, especially those of the Guddom.
      • Immortality: The Hecatoncheires are immortal like their fellow gods. They were born near the beginning of time and have not aged since.
        • Dormant State: In addition to being immortal, the Hecatoncheires found a way to petrify themselves to inhabit humanoid forms in the overworld, leaving their true forms as unbreakable stone statues frozen in time.
      • Invulnerability: It is nearly impossible to physically harm the Hecatoncheires. Their bodies are too large and muscular for normal weaponry to affect them.
    • Gigantism: One of the reasons Ouranos feared the Hecatoncheires, was because of their large size. Their size is on par with the Titans and are larger and stronger than the Olympians.
      • Enhanced Condition: The Hecatoncheires possess levels of weak magic that allows them to run their large bodies properly. This type of magic namely manifests itself by giving the Hecatoncheires greater physical attributes compared to other, lesser humanoid beings.
        • Enhanced Strength: One of the reason the Hecatoncheires were feared by Ouranos was their great strength, allegedly strong enough for him to worry one of them would usurp him. Their physical strength is very high, however, being able to wield and produce the large and powerful godly weapons the Olympians use.
        • Enhanced Stamina: To Be Added
        • Enhanced Senses: Because of the several extra pairs of arms and heads, the Hecatoncheires have a much finer control and expanded implementation of their base senses, able to see, hear, smell, and grab things from any direction.
          • Expanded View: The several heads of the Hecatoncheires are faced in every direction, allowing them to see all around them, and piecing together a panoramic view of their surroundings to their central brain.

Abilities

  • Multitasking: Thanks to the Hecatoncheires numerous brains and arms, they are experts at working on numerous things at one time. During the Battle of the Titans, they were able to fight several Titans at a single time and hold their own.

Weaknesses

  • Multiple Personalities: The Hecatoncheries fifty heads, much like most other multi-headed creatures, each possesses its own brain, memories, and personalities that controls a single set of arms. While this is combated in their broken up forms, the Gegenees, and when they are focused on a single objective, there are still moments where each individuals wants and desires differ from another, causing conflict.
